Building of a custom fly fishing rod

In this article we propose to follow step by step the building of a "custom" fly rod so that you too can get started in this hobby suitable for the winter season.

First of all we would especially like to thank the team of the website and sympathetic community of enthusiasts rodbuilders who gave us lots of tips and advice to fit this fly rod.

For this first rod, we started on standard hardware, ideal for beginners in the art of dry fly fishing.

Our choice was focused on a blank 9 ft (2,743 m), 4-pieces, fast action for silk # 4 on which we set 10 rings plus tip ring.
For a more custom look and a more complete overview of the different rodbuilding techniques, we chose to mount a handle from cork rings first grade flor, green and black color and paint and varnish the first section.

We tried to have a fairly simple set, but still raised a few touches of color. We chose to use the ligature wire black with touches of metallic gold thread and dark green.
